Fluorescence Microscopy/Imaging Flow Cytometry Organic Dyes Quantum Dots Fluorogens
Definition: Fluorogenic refers to a process in which fluorescence is generated. A fluorogen is typically an organic dye which is "dark", ie a dye that absorbs light, undergoes an excitation, but does not re-emit that energy in the form of light, rather transfers that energy into vibrational or torsional motion. Fluorogenic dyes have been found to bind to DNA and RNA and single chain antibodies thus constraining their movement and yielding a dramatic increase in detectable fluorescence.
Datasheets for our currently deployed fluorogenic dyes can be found in the Resources section under Materials Link.
